Methods to Keep Your Eyes Healthy
The amount of people in the world with eye problems is in the millions and in America, it’s no better. Caring for your eyes in a preventative way can help to minimize your chances of developing common eye ailments like dry eye and myopia (nearsightedness). You can save lots of money by taking precautions to keep your eyes healthy because once things start to go bad, you will spend thousands of dollars on medical bills to try and treat the condition.

With Old Age Comes Poor Eyesight

It’s a common belief that as you grow older your eyesight diminishes and this is true for many people, but it doesn’t have to be. By not straining your eyes and eating a very healthy diet can help to reduce your chances of developing what’s known as age-related macular degeneration. Surprisingly, a lot of young people are developing eye conditions as well, especially in young girls.

Preventive Measures

By visiting an eye doctor regularly, you can prevent or quickly treat an eye condition that the eye doctor finds early on. It’s good to do yogic exercises with your eyes to make the muscles stronger. You do this by rolling around your eyes in circles and from side to side. If you are staring at a screen all day, you should take 20 minute breaks from looking at the screen, which can be done by focusing on an object that is 20 feet from you for 20 seconds.

If you have tired eyes, you can relieve this by placing cold tea bags on your eyes. Sliced cucumbers can also be used after a long day at work. Some people dip cotton inside of milk and place them over their closed eyes for 12 to 15 minutes.

Having a diet filled with foods rich in Vitamin E, C and A is also necessary for keeping your eyes healthy.
